76th Republic Day Celebration- Sunday, January 26th, 2025, is a significant day in the Indian constitution, marking the 76th Republic Day, since 1950.
On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day celebration, the president of India, Draupadi Murmu, hoisted the Indian flag (Tricolour). The country's armed forces marched on the iconic Kartavya Path, showing India's military might, culture, and unity. A total of 18 marching units, 15 bands, and 31 tableaux are on display. The Indian armed forces and paramilitary forces marched down The Kartavya Path near the National War Memorial and India Gate.
The theme for the tableaux is "Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas".
After hoisting the national flag by Indian president Draupadi Murmu, the parade began. The parade began with the national salute and will continue for 90 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid a wreath at the National War Memorial. On this occasion, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was the chief guest.
The marching companies were led by 2 PARAM VIR CHAKRA Awardees and warriors of Kargil war- Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav(Retd) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar(Retd) and ASHOK CHAKRA Awardee Lt. Col Jas Ram Singh(Retd). They offered a salute to the president.
The specialty in the 76th Republic Day is 1 marching company and 1 band company also took part in the parade from Indonesia. Some of the defence platforms of the Army include the Army's BrahMos, Pinaka and Akash, the Sanjay combat surveillance system and the DRDO's Pralai tactical surface-to-surface missile. This marks their first time participating in the parade.
The parade also showcased T-90 "Bhishma" tanks, BMP-II infantry fighting vehicles, 10-meter short-barreled bridge systems, Nag machine gun systems, and "Agnibaan" multiple rocket launcher systems and "Bajrang" special vehicles.
